Accessibility statement

The DAO Sports Association is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people using keyboards, screen readers, zoom, custom text spacing, and other assistive technologies.

Target standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab) at Level AA across public pages and core flows: the homepage, Journal, Contact, and this statement.

Conformance status

As of 21 August 2026, this site has been reviewed against WCAG 2.2 A and AA requirements using a combination of semantic-structure checks, keyboard testing, contrast checks, zoom and text-spacing review, reduced-motion testing, and automated scanning. We do not claim full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance until a complete criterion-by-criterion evaluation of every applicable success criterion has been completed on the live production site with no known exceptions.

What we built in

  • Semantic landmarks, one H1 per page, and skip-to-main-content
  • Keyboard access, visible focus, contact dialog focus trap, and mobile-menu focus trap
  • Programmatic form labels, error text tied to fields, and a persistent success message
  • Purpose-appropriate image alternatives; decorative marks are silent to assistive technology
  • Off-site text links announce destination names and “opens in a new tab,” not raw URLs
  • Reflow at narrow widths and 200% zoom; text-spacing resilience; browser zoom is not disabled
  • Reduced-motion support and an Accessibility panel (dyslexia-friendly font, larger text, high contrast, reduce motion) with preferences remembered between pages

Known limitations

  • Journal share actions copy a link or open LinkedIn or X in a new tab; they are not embedded social widgets.
  • Contact messages are accepted by the site form. Email delivery to the Association depends on server configuration, so please include a reply address.
  • A third-party professional accessibility audit has not been commissioned. Automated checks cannot prove conformance on their own.

Technical specifications

This website is built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It is designed to work with current versions of major browsers and with assistive technologies that support those browsers.
